This to be the new hq for arc design; well-respected furniture designers. The nature of the client’s business created an interest for us in exploring the nature of ‘texture’ and ‘layers’. A fabric of steel mesh has been ‘draped’ over the building elements, providing a defensive screen at ground level, and adding to the drama of the stair tower. The texture and dramatic form of the stair-tower help improve the visual weight of the existing building within its challenging context. The project was completed in March 2007.
